The ‘opening’ of the Meatpacking district began back in 2005. We opened the first non-butcher establishment named Karrierebar. Opening the Meatpacking district was a transformation from an industrial area to what it is today – a new district with vibrant life and new creative forces. The development of the Meatpacking district required extensive collaboration with the municipality and the cultural agency, as the buildings are protected. We established a tenant association, created partnerships with new and old tenants, and initiated a host of activities that further opened the area both temporarily and permanently.
